Preface to the electronic edition

Sven Hedin's Tibetanska äfventyr was published in Swedish in 1904 and this English translation in the same year. No translator is named, we might as well assume it was the author himself. As mentioned in the printed preface, this book is based on Central Asia and Tibet, and adapted for young readers. As the title suggests, it is an adventure book. The first chapter makes explicit reference to Marco Polo, Cooper, Defoe and Jules Verne.

A copy at the University of Toronto was digitized in January 2008 by the Internet Archive, from where the scanned images and OCR text in January 2024 were copied to Project Runeberg. We present the Swedish original and translations to several languages in the same structure.

This volume was scanned elsewhere and made available by the Internet Archive, from where the scanned images were copied to Project Runeberg. We very much appreciate that they have made this possible and want to encourage other digital library projects to follow their example. Read more about Project Runeberg's image sources.
