The intensity of the movements is increased when the patient
sits on a high bench with the back steadied and the legs
stretched out. The operator’s hands are then applied on the

feet instead of the knees. The increased length of the lever
increases the muscular work for the patient, while at the same
time it lessens the force necessary to be exerted by the operator.
