our departure, agreed with me that there was
something symbolical about the manner of
Himmler’s exit.

Later in the morning I returned with
Schellenberg to Flensburg. He told me that Himmler had
again spoken about his projected meeting with
Eisenhower. He had tried to imagine the
atmosphere of such a meeting, and had asked if
Schellenberg thought he ought to make a bow to
the Allied Supreme Commander and if he ought
to shake hands.

Later in the morning of the same day I departed
by ambulance plane for Copenhagen, and from
there continued to Stockholm. At the
Copenhagen airfield at Kastrup I was met by the Swedish
Minister, Gustaf von Dardel. To him I reported
all that had occurred; for communications
between Stockholm and Schellenberg ought to go
via the Swedish Minister in Copenhagen to our
attaché, Lewenhaupt, whom I had asked to
remain at Aabenraa.
