We have begun our expedition with good
spirits and undiminished courage, and hope
to finish it with equal eclat. Perhaps you
will not believe me when I say that we are
enjoying ourselves in our cabin with our usual
English cheer, disdaining the blustering of
Boreas or the tumult of the waves, with
“One wide ocean all around us,
All above us one black sky.”
