purpofe, Their method of proceeding is this: His Majefty
informs them by a fpeech from the throne of the caufe of
their convention; they then divide and feparate into four
different chambers, the Nobles into a houfe of their own,
the Clergy into the cathedral, the Burgers and Peafants into
another building acrofs the market-place. In their feveral
chambers they confider the matter in queftion and give
their affent or diffent. The vote is carried by a majority.
Every chamber has a negative in palling a law. After
each of the States has come toa determination they return
in regular order from the feparate chambers to the
