Invitation to American Library Association
Conference.

Librarians of all countries are most cordially invited to attend the
Fifty-fifth Annual Conference of the American Library Association, to be
held at the Stevens Hotel, Chicago, October 16 to 21, 1933.

Delegates representing libraries and ministries of education in other
countries are expected at the conference. The presence of these delegates
and meetings of the International Library Committee of the International
Federation of Library Associations, October 14 to 16, will give the conference
an international character.

Room reservations for the conference may be made either with the
Stevens Hotel or through the Association.

Special railroad råtes in the United States are expected to be available.

There will be four general sessions, one or möre of which will be
devoted to international library affairs. One or two distinguished librarians
from other countries will be invited to address the delegates at these meetings.
In addition there will be many meetings of affiliated national societies and
other library groups. The programs of these meetings will comprise
addres-ses and discussion on nearly every aspect of library work.

The Century of Progress Exposition, celebrating the one hundredth
anniversary of Chicago as an organized municipality, will öpen on June 1,
1933. During the folio wing fi ve months there will be on display in the
exposition buildings, which are easily accessible from the Stevens Hotel, a
large variety of exhibits illustrating social and scientific progress during the
past century. In the architecture of its buildings, and in the scope, type
and presentation of its exhibits, the Century of Progress Exposition will
provide an unusual attraction for those attending the conference.
