Den inställda utgifningen af The New-Jerusalem Magazine och
svårigheterna vid bestridandet af utgifterna för Peter Panah vittna om att
Wadström, som i London synes ha inrättat sig på ganska stor fot, under året
1790 råkat i ekonomiskt bryderi. Utan tvifvel var detta orsaken till att han
nödgades afträda sin egendom, om hvars försäljning följande skrifter gifva
upplysning:

lOth, 1790 ... the elegant Household furniture ... by C. B. WADSTRÖM

Annons om följande försäljning:
*A Catalogue of the Elegant Household Furniture, large beautiful Pier-Glasses,
Linen, China, Books, a few of which were purchased from the
Pinellian Library . . . the Plates, with about förty Proof Impressions, and
800 copies of Explanations in French and English; embellished with
four vignettes; being Views from nature, and various discoveries ön the
Coast of Africa, taken ön the spot, in a voyage made by order of their
Majesties of France and Sweden; by C. B. WADSTRÖM, Esq. Chief
Director of the Royal Assay-Office in Sweden . . . which will be sold by
Auction, by Mr. Squibb, at his great rooms, Saville Row, ön

Försäljningen omfattade tillsammans 447 Lots. Såsom Lot 74 of the
Second Day’s Sale förekommer »A pair of plates finely engraved by C.
Prestell, of views from nature... — Four Vignettes, with eight hundred
explanations, in French and English, to the above plates». 39 »proof impressions»
äro fördelade på Lots 75—83. Af handskrifna anteckningar i katalogen
framgår, att Wadström återköpt dessa Lots jämte ett antal böcker och ett par
pistoler för tillsammans X 13. 7. 6. Bland böckerna voro: »Index to
Sweden-bourg’s Works, scarce», »Plan for a Free Community on the Coast of Africa»
(2 exemplar), samt »Swedenborg ön Heaven and Hell, and Barclay’s Apology
for the Quäkers».
Om Wadströms verksamhet i Manchester har jag i tryck icke funnit
någon annan upplysning än följande notis i Gjörwells Svenska Archivum
