She gently smiled: " Do not so
quickly judge
The sacred laws, you fail to un-
derstand.
If keener pain is measured out
to me
Than I deserve -
— I suffer not in
vain !
It is for your dear sake ... I
murmur not.
One day, my grief shall be your
gain, my child.
When once you truly grasp the
love of Christ,
Who suffered meek a thousand
pangs for us,
