His neck is soft and white.
He cannot walk yet, but he
can stand on his feet, and I
think he will soon begin to
toddle. Look at his tiny feet
and hands. He has ten fingers
and ten toes with little pink
nails. When he gets older, I
shall teach him the names of
his fingers: the thumb, the
fore (first) finger, the middle
finger, the ring finger, and
the little finger. I shall
take his little feet and play
with his toes, as English
mothers do with their children
and say:
»This little piggy went to
market,
And this little piggy stayed
at home.
This little piggy had roast beef,
And this little piggy picked
the bone,
And this little piggy went
wee-wee-wee all the way home.»
The other day he fell, and
hurt his knee and elbow, poor
little fellow (chap). I hope he
will grow into a fine lad with
broad shoulders, and muscles
as hard as iron. He will be
a help to his father and mother.
But I must not spoil him, for
a spoilt child always wants to
have its own way, and is
disliked by other people. If
he is naughty he ought to be
